An ancient Native tribe in their grand cedar canoes travel through a time portal over the Nisqually River. Mt Rainier (Mt Tahoma) rises in the back drop to this window. The many salmon species and an eagle create the foundation of this magical portal. Chief Seattle spoke of a time when the ancients would once again return.
“Our ancestors never forget the beautiful world that gave them being. They still love its winding rivers, its great mountains and its sequestered vales, and they ever yearn in tenderest affection over the lonely hearted living and often return to visit and comfort them.” Chief Seattle
This image was originally commissioned by the Nisqually tribe for the art to create blankets for the Canoe Journey. I believe the ancestors are always near when the tribal members take to their canoes.
