These images are dedicated to the fans of the Seattle Seahawks.  Seahawks are the beloved football team of Seattle and the NW. In 1975, Seattle’s professional football team organized a contest among fans to choose a name for the club. Fans sent in more than 20,000 options, of which about 1,700 were unique. The name Seahawks (“Sea Hawk”) was proposed 151 times. It is associated with the osprey – a fast and agile predatory bird that fiercely defends its territory.

The 12’s originally emerged in 1975 as an idea…Then on December 15, 1984, the Seahawks became the first professional sports teams to retire a jersey in honor of their fans. The fans, affectionately known as the 12s, have been an instrumental part of the Seahawks organization since its inception.
